Unregulated Intoxicants

Unregulated intoxicating substances are available in local community gas stations, convenience stores and vape shops and can be sold to anyone of any age .We are specifically concerned about children's access to these substances.

Some products, like Kratom which is very close to the same effects of an opioid, are so addictive that people who use them have ended up in treatment clinics and on mediation assisted treatment to help with their addiction.  These products are NOT what they are marketed as.

By helping to raise awareness we can help to keep children safe.

UPDATE on Unregulated Intoxicants!! Here is a wrap up of our progress providing information and awareness in the 2026 legislative session regarding Unregulated Intoxicating Substances. : See flyer below or our website for more information on our concerns for these substances.

  • Huge win!! House Bill 1630 bans the sale of recreational nitrous oxide in New Hampshire and was signed into law.

  • A win with some more work to do - SB 624 Hemp-Derived THC Products was signed into law prohibiting sales to anyone under 21 and limiting the amount of THC in products being sold.
We can build upon this work next year on packaging, THC infused drinks and advertising.

  • Unfortunately, SB 557 to ban the sale of Synthetic and Semi-Synthetic Kratom failed in discussions at the end of the legislation session.  This means our efforts to inform the public is even more important now because these products are still available.

Prevention work is always a challenge so this is encouraging news and great work by our NH prevention communities, partners and members.  Prevention work is most successful when we do it together.  This was an amazing team effort that wielded great results and we want to t everyone involved who helped to make this happen. Our job in the prevention field is to education and share awareness, we will be calling on our partners to help as we enter into the 2027 legislative session.
