Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is October 23rd - October 31st

Red Ribbon Week is an ideal way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Show your personal commitment to a drug-free lifestyle through the symbol of the Red Ribbon.

Take the pledge to be drug-free, to advocate and help raise awareness about the dangers of drugs, and to be a good role model for making positive, healthy choices to youth and peers.

Our Youth Action students are gearing up for Red Ribbon Week and would like to encourage as many parts of our community and beyond to get involved and participate.

For helpful information anytime, visit our Parent & Family Toolkit page

October is Substance Misuse Prevention month and we are looking forward to working with many of our partners to raise awareness, provide information, and support a healthy, happy, drug free community!

We have lots of fun, informative, and engaging ways to promote substance misuse prevention, and they are all listed with more information below, but the highlights are:

October 12th, RCFY Monthly Meeting, 9:00 - 10:30 am

October 14th, Fall Family Fun Festival, 10:00 - 1:00 pm

October 18th, YRBS presentation to the Raymond School Board

October 20th, RCFY Annual Prevention Summit, an RSVP is required for this event.  Please contact our office if you are interested in joining us for the morning presentation and celebration.

October 23 - 31st is Red Ribbon Week and we have a LOT going on all week.  If your business or location would like a bowl of ribbons or a flyer to hand in the window, please contact our office.  We also have red t-shirts for purchase.

October 26th is our Lights on Prevention Extravaganza, 5:30 - 7:30. We do have an rsvp for free dinner and babysitting services

October 28th, DEA Medication Take Back event, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Prevention takes a community working together to make a difference.  In the coming weeks we will be sharing our 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) data with the community.  We hope to have conversations and engage the community as a whole to look at these numbers and strategize together how we can work together to make a difference.

We have red ribbons available for anyone who would like to display a large one outside their home or business, and also ribbon stickers for your phone or lapel, etc.

Contact us! We want to see red ribbons all over town!

Take our online Adult pledge, or our online Youth pledge.

DID YOU KNOW?

Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t, yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.

Red Ribbon Week® (October 23-31), the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation, is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started. Founded in 1985, the mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign (Red Ribbon Week) is to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a DRUG-FREE AMERICA.

We are grateful to the Raymond School District and Raymond Schools for participating.

2018: We had a GREAT week, thanks to all the schools and everyone who participated and made it a great success.
